New Executive Team Member at Destination Canada - SVP, Destination Development

Destination Canada is pleased to announce that Gracen Chungath (she/her) will be joining Destination Canada as Senior Vice President, Destination Development, on August 30, 2021. She will lead our destination development and stewardship strategy. 

Gracen has a proven record of building purposeful relationships with internal and external partners. Her strategic nature and collaborative personality will be an excellent addition to Destination Canada as we develop a pan-Canadian strategy for Destination Development focusing on investment, strategic partnerships, stewardship and capacity building. 

Gracen brings exceptional experience in sustainable partnerships, business planning and operations to the role. She is a highly credentialed and accomplished individual who holds an MSc in Public Policy from the School of African and Oriental Studies (SOAS) at the University of London and an MBA in Marketing from Creighton University, Omaha, USA. Her commitment to her community is exemplary – she has given her time to many non-profit boards and is currently a mentor with the Immigrant Employment Council of British Columbia. 

In her past role as Director, Operations, Planning & Program Management for the City of Vancouver, Gracen led three divisions and stewarded a multi-billion dollar real estate portfolio which, include arts, cultural, social, childcare and affordable housing facilities. In her eight years with the City, she was integral in leading projects that spanned governance and administration, strategic planning, finance, and risk management.  

As we support the restart of our industry and compete for the world’s travellers, Gracen will play an important role in Canada’s transition to a thriving, regenerative visitor economy that Canadians recognize as contributing to a high quality of life with net economic, socio-cultural and environmental benefits.
