Destination Canada is pleased to announce that Monique Gomel has assumed the role of Interim Chair of its Board of Directors. A well-respected member of the Team Canada family, Monique has served as Vice-Chair of the Board since 2017.

She brings 20+ years of global marketing leadership experience across various sectors, including tourism. Her outstanding career developing iconic global brands and her current executive position with Rocky Mountaineer brings a wealth of international expertise to Destination Canada’s Board of Directors.

Destination Canada would like to extend a sincere thank you to Ben Cowan-Dewar for his astute leadership at the helm of the Board of Directors. During his four-year tenure, Canada’s tourism sector saw three record-breaking years in international tourism arrivals. He was also instrumental in guiding Destination Canada through the first year of the pandemic.

In addition to the Board Chair vacancy, several Board positions have concluded their terms. All Board positions are appointed by the Governor in Council (GIC). A formal GIC selection process to appoint a new Chair and fill other director vacancies will be launched in 2021.
